July unemployment data is out… and it shows promise!

July unemployment data is out and for the 3rd consecutive month, unemployment has fallen from a high of 14.7% in April to 10.2% in July.

It is important to note the difference between temporary (furloughs) and permanent (layoffs) unemployment. July was the first month where permanent unemployment declined, which is a positive sign. Because unemployment is being driven by a medical crisis, job recovery will depend on how the crisis is handled.
