- The unemployment numbers continue to drop with the announcement of August data; the initial forecast was a decrease from 10.2% to 9.8%
- Actual unemployment fell to 8.4% with an additional 1.37m jobs added in August; down from 4.8m positions in June and 1.73m in July
- However, nearly 20% of all job gains came from the US Government hiring for the 2020 Census, which are temporary positions
- Plus transportation and manufacturing companies continue to announce plans for furloughs and layoffs
